According to the Ten Commandments, have you ever....
* Told a lie, even a small white one?
* Used the Lord's name in vain? * Looked upon a woman/man with lust in your heart? * Stolen anything? If you have answered YES to one or more of the above, this may make you a "lying, blasphemous, adulterous thief" by heart. And based on your own confession, how do you think God will judge you according to His Ten Commandments?
If God has to ask you "Why should I let you into My heaven?", what would your answer be? * I am a good person? * I go to church every Sunday? * I am active in my community? * I am a law-abiding citizen? * I was raised in a Christian household? The truth is that none of the above will save you!! Only JESUS can save you.
" . . . it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast" (Ephesians 2:8,9).
This means that NO amount of good works will get you into heaven, no matter how GOOD you have been. “ . . . For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23). This means that because Heaven is a gift, like any other genuine gift, it is NOT earned or deserved. " . . . for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God . . . " (Romans 3:23) This means that ALL people are sinners. Man cannot save himself. " . . . Yet He does not leave the guilty unpunished . . . " (Exodus 34:7) and " . . . The soul who sins is the one who will die . . ." This means that although God loves us (Jeremiah 31:3), He is also a just God and MUST punish us. But Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins and rose from the grave to purchase a place for us in Heaven. This gift of eternal life in heaven, is received by FAITH. " . . . Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved . . . " (Acts 16:31). Saving faith is trusting in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life.
